Fasting Brothers are groups of six men (or more) who offer various forms of fasting as a way of praying for the needs and intentions of one of our parish priests on a specific day of each week. A minimum of six men per priest is needed. Groups for each parish priest are assigned by the ministry leader. Each man prayerfully discerns the type of unique fasting he will offer and commits to doing the fast on a designated day of each week (except Sundays/Solemnities). Examples of the types of fasting could involve fasting from food or drink, refraining from social media, radio, etc., for the assigned day each week. This generous weekly fasting commitment is asked for a period of one year, but it can remain open-ended in time as each Fasting Brother discerns his call to continue. These groups are for the spiritual benefit of our priests. Fasting Brothers have a particular devotion to Saint Joseph as a strong patron for their endeavors. “The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus.” – Saint John Vianney, patron saint of priests.
